Home Solar Options
-
A straightforward residential solar panel installation that helps you generate your own electricity during the day and reduce what you buy from the grid. A great solution for any home owner who wants to cut their energy bills.
Bill control
On-site generation
Install in 1-2 days
-
A combined home solar and battery system designed to increase “self-use” – storing spare solar energy so you can use it later (often in the evening). This is usually the strongest option for households looking for bigger long-term savings and more energy independence.
Store excess energy
Use at peak tariffs
SEG export (where available)
-
Battery storage can be installed as a standalone system, or paired with existing solar panels. If you already have PV, a battery helps you store more of what you generate instead of exporting it back to the grid. If you don’t, you can still charge off-peak and use that stored energy when electricity costs more.
No panels needed
Charge off-peak
Use when rates are higher
How Much Can Residential Solar Power Installation Save You?
Use our quick calculator to get an estimate of energy savings with a domestic solar panel installation based on your type of home. It will also indicate an idea of how much the solar installation might cost. For a fully bespoke quote please contact our team.
Calculate Your Savings
Assumptions
Average energy usage data based on size of home and number of occupants taken from Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and Ofgem.
Using the UK electricity price cap (Apr–Jun 2026): Unit rate approx. 24.67p per kWh. Standing charge approx. £209/year.
Estimated annual cost = (kWh × £0.2467) + £209.
Installation costs are indicative and based on P4 Solar pricing as of February 2026.
Is Your Home Suitable for Solar Panels?
Some homeowners automatically rule out residential solar panel installations because they assume it won’t work for their property. In reality, modern residential solar systems are flexible, and a quick solar site assessment can confirm what’s realistic for your home, your roof, and your household usage pattern.
We’ve been installing green energy solutions for domestic properties since 2022, and we’ve designed photovoltaic systems for everything from terraces and semis to bungalows and larger detached homes, so you’ll get a clear answer based on experience.
Common Solar Myths (Debunked)
-
This isn’t true. You can earn hundreds of pounds by simply exporting surplus solar back to the grid.
-
Modern solar panels are sleek and low-profile, with options like all-black designs that blend neatly into your roof. Far from being an eyesore, they can actually enhance your home’s appearance while adding value.
-
Most roofs are suitable for solar, even if they are not south-facing. Panels can still generate strong savings on east or west-facing roofs, and modern systems are designed to work efficiently across a range of roof types and angles.
-
Batteries are not pointless without solar. They can be used to charge from the grid during cheaper off-peak times and then power the home during peak-rate periods. This means they can reduce bills even without solar panels.

-
Shading doesn’t automatically rule solar out. We look at when/where shade hits, then factor that into panel placement and system design.

-
Solar panels generate from daylight, not heat. Cloud can reduce output, but it doesn’t stop electricity generation – which is why performance is best judged over the year, not day-to-day.

Most residential solar panel installations fall under permitted development, with exceptions (e.g., listed buildings or some conservation areas). We’ll flag anything that applies during the assessment.

Solar Battery Storage: The Smart Add-On
A solar battery can be installed as a standalone system, or paired with a domestic solar panel installation. For the right home, it’s a smart way to reduce what you buy from the grid – either by storing your own solar generation, or by charging off-peak and using that energy when electricity costs more.
If you have solar panels, your system generates electricity during the day. Your home uses that solar power first; if there’s surplus, it can charge the battery before any remaining electricity is exported to the grid. Later on, you can use stored energy before pulling from the grid – reducing the amount of electricity you need to buy at peak rates, and supporting a more sustainable living setup.
If you don’t have panels, battery storage can still deliver value. You can charge the battery on lower off-peak tariffs, then use that stored electricity during higher-rate periods to help bring down your day-to-day energy costs.
Battery storage is usually a good fit if:
You’re looking to take control over rising energy bills and want stronger long term savings
You want to increase energy independence and reduce grid reliance
You want to future-proof your home energy system over time
Battery storage works best when it’s part of the wider solar power system design. Most homeowners start with panels first, then add a battery later once they’ve seen their generation and day-to-day usage – we can design the system with that upgrade path in mind.
We partner with multiple leading solar technology brands (including Tesla Powerwall), which means we can design around what suits your home – not push a one-brand solution.
Our Process: Solar Panel Installation for Homes
STEP 1
Initial Consultation & Solar Site Assessment
We start with a quick consultation, then arrange a survey to check roof space, shading, access, and your typical electricity use. This is where we confirm what’s realistic for your property and whether solar panels will deliver meaningful savings.
STEP 2
Bespoke System Design & Clear Quote
Next, we put together a tailored solar system for your home – panel layout, inverter approach, and battery options where they add value. You’ll get clear pricing and a straightforward recommendation based on your goals.
STEP 3
Professional Domestic Solar Installation
Once you’re happy, we book your install date. Our MCS-certified, in-house team handles the full job end-to-end, so the people who surveyed and designed the system are accountable for the finish, the safety checks, and the final performance.
STEP 4
Testing, Commissioning
& Handover
After installation, we test the system, complete commissioning, and talk you through how it runs. We’ll show you the monitoring app/display, explain what affects output (seasonality, weather), and make sure you know exactly what you’re looking at.
STEP 5
Ongoing Aftercare
& Support
If you have questions after install, you can still reach us. Whether it’s monitoring, understanding output changes through the year, questions on maintenance, or advice on adding battery storage later, we’re here to help you get the best from your system.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Start with our solar panel calculator for a quick savings range based on your home and typical electricity use. With the right setup, some homes reduce energy bills by around 70%, but a solar site assessment is the best way to confirm what’s realistic for your roof and usage pattern.
-
For most homes, the on-site solar panel installation typically takes 1–2 days once the survey and system design are finalised. The exact timing depends on roof complexity, access/scaffolding, and whether you’re adding battery storage.
-
We predominantly install across Yorkshire and the North of England, including Ilkley, Keighley, Leeds, Manchester, Harrogate, Sheffield, Wakefield, Lancaster, Bingley, Skipton, York, and Halifax. However we also install further a field and have completed installs in Scotland, Wales and the Midlands so please do get in touch to check if your home is in an eligible area.
-
In the UK, “solar incentives” usually affect cost in three practical ways:
Upfront price – in the UK, home solar and battery installs qualify for 0% VAT, which reduces the total install cost.
Ongoing returns – if you export unused electricity, you can be paid via an export tariff (for example, under the Smart Export Guarantee). Rates vary by supplier.
Local/eligibility schemes – some homeowners may qualify for support through council or grant programmes, depending on circumstances and availability.
A good quote should show what’s included, what assumptions are being made (self-use vs export), and what you can realistically expect.
-
Neighbours can raise concerns, but they usually can’t stop a compliant home solar installation. Most domestic systems fall under permitted development, so there’s no formal objection process. If planning permission is required (for example, listed buildings or some conservation areas), neighbours can submit comments to the council. The best approach is: confirm whether planning applies, decide panel placement, and give neighbours a quick heads-up if you share a roofline (semi/terrace).
