The Opportunity
After an initial consultation and detailed on-site survey, it was agreed that a battery-only energy storage system would be the most suitable solution for the property.
Rather than generating electricity on-site through solar PV, the system allows the homeowner to take advantage of variable electricity tariffs. The battery is charged during off-peak hours when electricity prices are lower and the stored energy is then used during peak-rate periods when energy costs are significantly higher.
This approach provides a practical and flexible way to reduce reliance on expensive grid electricity while offering immediate financial benefits without requiring rooftop solar installation.
Battery-only systems are increasingly popular for properties where solar is not suitable due to aesthetic considerations, roof limitations, shading or structural constraints. The Solution
Following the site assessment, P4 Solar designed and installed a bespoke smart energy storage system tailored to the homeowner’s usage patterns and tariff structure.
The installation included:
2 x LUX Power 12 kW Hybrid Inverters
7 x 9.4 kWh Hanchu ESS Battery Storage Units
2 x Emergency Power Supply Circuits
The system has been designed to intelligently manage energy usage by automatically charging during off-peak periods and discharging during peak times, helping to significantly reduce overall electricity costs. Additionally, in the event of a power cut, both inverters will operate in island mode, enabling full home backup.
The Installation
The installation was completed efficiently within the existing property infrastructure with careful consideration given to system placement, performance optimisation and ease of future expansion.
The battery system was fully integrated into the home’s electrical setup, enabling seamless and automated operation without requiring any changes to the homeowner’s daily routine. A lean-to structure was purpose-built to house the hardware, providing a clean and aesthetically pleasing finish to the overall system.
